What is the PV Green Card?
The PV Green Card was developed by the South African Photovoltaic Industry Associated (SAPVIA) in conjunction with the German Solar Energy Society (DGS Berlin) and the German International Coopearation (G12) to develop a national standardized report. This report is called the PV Green Card aims to promote a good standard of quality for Solar PV Installation.
A PV Green Card is not something you get, it is not like a drivers license or a passport that identifies you as a qualified installer.it is an as-built report on a Solar Installation a document containing the details of a PV system from A-Z. The South African PV Green Card is a safety certificate that assures a standard of quality for PV (Photovoltaic) Installation.
Do I get a PV Green Card Certificate of approval at the end of my 5-day training?
No, The SAPVIA PV Green Card Assessment must be booked separately from the course.
Who can register on the SAPVIA PV Green Card website?
Certified PV Green Card installation Companies can register on the website. A certified PV Green Card Installation Company is registered as an Electrical Contractor with DOEL and employs an assessed PV Green Card Installer.
How do I become a PV Green Card Installer?
Training before is strongly recommended with an accredited training center like us and thereafter Register and pass the SAPVIA PV Green Card assessment and get your SAPVIA Certificate as an assessed PV Green Card Installer.
What is the PV Green Card training?
It is a 5 day onsite competency training for PV Installers which includes practical and theoretical aspects.
Who can undertake the PV Green Card assessment?
All suitably trained and knowledgeable PV Installers can attempt this competency assessment.
Who issues certificate of approval if I pass the PV Green Card assessment?
SAPVIA (The South African PV Industry Association) will issue the certificate.
Who can issue the COC that forms part of a PV Green Card report?

Only a DOEL – Registered installation electrician in the permanent employ of the certified PV Green Card Installation Company may issue the COC.

How long are the course?
SAPVIA PV Green Card training course is 5 full days.
What are the entry requirements to attend course
The are no prerequisites for attending the PV Green Card, the main requirements is an understanding of the English language as it is the language we use to teach the course.
Is the course accredited?
Yes, it is a Saqa, Sapvia and South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) accredited course.
What do you get after the course?
Certificate of completion certificate with CPD points.
